Takims Holidays has been shaping journeys through Tanzania since 1950. Still family owned and now in its third generation, the company has evolved into one of the country’s most experienced destination specialists, creating highly curated, tailor made journeys across Tanzania.

With operations in Arusha and Dar es Salaam, Takims works across the Northern and Southern circuits, drawing on decades of knowledge to open up the country well beyond the classic safari route. Days might unfold among the Hadzabe at Lake Eyasi, on foot in the wilderness, beneath the Ngorongoro highlands or deep in the Serengeti, with each journey designed individually rather than around a fixed collection of camps and lodges.

Behind every itinerary is serious capability on the ground: experienced destination specialists, highly trained guides and Takims’ own fleet of customised safari vehicles. Yet it is the access, local knowledge and attention to detail that define the experience, allowing journeys to feel personal, considered and distinctly Tanzanian.

    Takims employs its guides full time, each with a minimum of 10 years’ experience, with continued investment in annual training and development. The company also owns one of Tanzania’s youngest safari fleets, purchasing new vehicles every year. Each is customised for safari with upgraded suspension, elevated windscreens, fridges, charging points, binoculars and radio communication.
